Following our recent blog, in which we outlined five ways that AMI minimises the risk of harmful data leaks, we’re taking another look at what sets AMI apart from other IT disposal providers.
AMI can create a new revenue stream for your organisation
In our blog ‘5 reasons why we minimise the risk of harmful data leaks’ we explained how AMI’s secure IT retirement solution offers the lowest risk of harmful data leaks in the industry. This time we’re going to outline another of our service offerings: our ability to create a new revenue stream for your organisation.
Maximising the potential value from retired IT assets
Following the complete data sanitisation of data-bearing items, we analyse and process all equipment in order to maximise the potential value from retired IT assets. Where possible, we focus on recovering the residual value for all client devices. We have significant experience of determining the market value for retired technology, and finding the channel that will capture the highest possible return for our customers.
As well as our global network of 350 bulk buyers, we sell through our premium resale division, RefreshedByUs.com, which focuses on corporate quality refurbished laptops, desktops and peripherals. Buyers receive professionally refurbished equipment with genuine Microsoft refurbisher licences. We’re so confident in our refurbished products that we supply 12-month warranties with all products sold.
Over time, this process can create an entirely new revenue stream for your organisation. In 2015 we were able to resell over 90% of retired laptops. The typical value per laptop resold was €100, and in that year alone we returned €2.2M to our clients! This return on your IT assets can significantly reduce the cost of upgrading your organisations’ IT infrastructure on a semi-regular basis.
Enhance your CSR
Alternatively, organisations sometimes express interest in doing something different with the return generated from resold devices, such as donating it to a charity or putting it towards a specific initiative.
The modern workforce cares deeply about the impact that they have on the environment and society as a whole, and, for that reason, CSR is something that is becoming increasingly important to companies and their employees. AMI can arrange donation of the value from resold devices to a charity of the client’s choice, enhancing the client’s CSR policy and helping to contribute something back to the community.
So when you’re next preparing to dispose of your old IT, don’t regard it as a pile of junk to be discarded. Instead, look at it as a new revenue stream that you never knew you had.
Look out for our next blog in which we’ll outline how our service model makes the complex process of IT retirement really easy for our customers.
