Vyta wins Outstanding Commitment to ESG at Business Awards

Vyta at the award ceremony for commitment to ESG award

Vyta’s ‘ethos of sustainability’ earned them the award for Outstanding Commitment to ESG, sponsored by Almac, at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards.

Based in Newtownabbey, Vyta collects, refurbishes, recycles and resells IT equipment while ensuring that any data contained is completely destroyed. Its approach safeguards businesses from data breaches while also supporting the environment, keeping IT equipment from landfill and reducing the need for new equipment to be manufactured.

As businesses aim to achieve rigorous sustainability goals, there has been a marked rise in the demand for Vyta’s services.

Faye Thomas, the company’s chief commercial officer, said: “At Vyta, we just have an ethos of sustainability. It is almost habitual for us and it doesn’t feel like we are doing anything special but it is great to be awarded for that.”

Vyta delivers secure, sustainable and compliant IT asset disposition (ITAD) solutions, helping organisations across the UK, Ireland and Europe manage their redundant IT responsibly and cost-effectively.

Vyta’s entire business model is based on the circular economy and helping organisations reduce their environmental impact. Following a certified IT asset disposition (ITAD) programme not only helps businesses meet their environmental and compliance targets but also leads to sustainable processes in the supply chain.

Ms Thomas said more companies are beginning to implement strategies to help tackle the climate crisis. But she said she feels privileged to work in a company where the environment is such a priority.

“It’s just so great that we really focus on sustainability and how we can protect the planet,” she said.

Most recently Vyta has experienced a period of rapid growth and now employs a team of 150 employees across multiple sites in Belfast, Dublin and Essex with plans to increase this to 220 by the end of 2025.

Ms Thomas said the company is proud of their recent development and now plans to push Vyta into a global market.

“We have been growing substantially over the last few years. We are very good at what we do, we provide a great service but what we want to do is make that global.

“We are acting as a faculty for other organisations to be able to provide a global solution – through ethical partners,” she said.
